This handbook is designed to help students and families understand the key routines, expectations, and guidelines of life at Leichhardt House. It provides practical information on how we live, learn, and work together to create a safe, supportive, and respectful community.
Leichhardt House: Code of Conduct forms Section 2 of the Leichhardt House: Child & Youth Risk Management Strategy; a document designed to outline expected standards of behaviour for all stakeholders interacting with children and young people in our service environment.
Under the Working with Children (Risk Management & Screening) Act 2000 and the Working with Children (Risk Management & Screening) Regulation 2011, organisations regulated by the Blue Card System are legislatively required to develop, implement and maintain a Child & Youth Risk Management Strategy; a document designed to help to identify potential risks of harm to children and young people and to implement strategies to minimise these risks.
Leichhardt House was established in 1995 with one clear purpose:
To make high school education more accessible for families in rural and remote communities across the Western Downs.
Leichhardt House is governed by the CSAA, a not-for-profit incorporated association responsible for the management and strategic direction of the residence. To better understand the goals that guide our work, you can read more about our Vision and Strategy here.
